The Work of Clean & Sober
Clean & Sober is a self-help program based on the 12-step model of recovery for homeless individuals seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. We are not a treatment program. We employ a non-judgmental approach while providing support, encouragement, acceptance, unconditional love, and spiritual healing.
At our Clean & Sober Walk-In Office the staff provide eligibility screenings, intakes, more in-depth assessments and referrals to those seeking help with drug and alcohol addiction. In 2012 the Walk-In Office provided 805 intakes and 310 assessments. The Walk-In Office also hosts 12-step meetings five days a week with an average attendance of 32 people per meeting.
New Start 1 & 2 are self-help, 12-step based residential recovery communities serving over 60 formerly homeless addicts and alcoholics who do not qualify for or cannot afford other residential programs. Residents learn to live in sobriety, tend to neglected health issues, reunite with family, and seek employment and/or education. Residents can stay for up to a year or longer paying on an income-based sliding scale of $0.00 to $275.00 per month plus $75.00 toward food. For those with no income, Clean & Sober subsidizes the entire cost. 110 women and men lived at New Start in 2012.
